Trusting God Alone

Now know I that the Lord saveth His anointed; He will hear Him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Psalm 20:6

A friend announces she’s sick on social media and asks for prayer. Comments pour in: “Praying for you,” “Wishing you positive vibes,” “Good luck for quick healing,” or even “Sending prayers your way.”

Yet only one type of sentiment will be effective—prayers addressed in faith to God, in Jesus’ Name. No amount of luck, vibes, or prayers sent to the person requesting them will provide any benefit.

Psalm 20 discusses calling on God rather than trusting fallible objects of this world. Some trust in horses and chariots, unreliable earthly forces. But their plans will fail. We, however, trust in the Name of our God because He alone has the power to heal and save. Our key verse says He rescues His anointed king, and here He preserved King David when facing an enemy attack. Ultimately God resurrected our anointed Messiah, King Jesus! Those who are His through faith in Christ can take comfort knowing He will hear and answer us in our distress.

Are you trusting in lesser things for help? Why not faithfully call on God now? He rescues from troubles and saves His own eternally through His anointed King, Jesus.

Father, please help me trust You alone to save me, here and for eternity.
